Casa
D’Angelo’s is a family-owned and operated business
that has been in the Cleveland area for approximately 19 years.
There is a long and strong history to the success of the restaurants!
Where
It All Began
In St.
Louis, Missouri, Vince and Joe Cunetto, both pharmacists by
trade, loved to make Italian style lunch using Grandma D’Angelo’s
recipes for co-workers at the drug store. The rave reviews
they received and the comments that they should open their
own Italian restaurant were finally taken seriously by the
brothers. In October 1974, Cunetto’s Restaurant was
opened and Grandma D’Angelo’s authentic Italian
recipes were introduced to the public. Cunetto’s is
located at 5453 Magnolia Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri and has
been in business for 32 years! It has consistently been rated
one of the top restaurants in St. Louis.
Around
the same time, James P. D’Angelo (Jimmy D.) decided
he too was interested in learning to become a chef and traveled
to St. Louis to learn Grandma D’Angelo’s recipes
from his cousins, Vince and Joe. In October 1977, Jim opened
Casa D’Angelo’s in Fort Wayne, Indiana. And, just
as in St. Louis, Casa D’Angelo’s is thriving with
a total of four restaurants in Fort Wayne.
Casa D’Angelo’s In Cleveland
Obviously,
the story does not end there…In 1986, a young and excited
James G. D’Angelo (Jimmy D.) decided to spend several
months in Fort Wayne to study the culinary cuisine from his
uncle. Jimmy devoted day and night learning the intricacies
of the restaurant business. Upon returning home to Cleveland,
he spent two years searching for a location to open the first
Casa D’Angelo’s in Cleveland. In April 1989, Jimmy,
his brothers, Sam and Paul along with Paul’s wife, Donna
and their parents, Sam Sr. and Josephine opened Casa D’Angelo’s
in North Royalton. This location was sold in 1996.
In 1994
the family searched for a restaurant to open, a second Casa
D’Angelo’s. They found a great location in Macedonia
on Route 82. The family worked hard to completely remodel
the space, from the set-up of the kitchen to the interior
decorating, before opening Casa D’Angelo’s, Macedonia
in September 1994.
In January
1997 Casa D’Angelo’s expanded again and the restaurant
in Mentor was established. The layout and design are similar
to the Macedonia location. The food is prepared using Grandma
D’Angelo’s irresistible recipes.
D’Angelo’s
in Twinsburg opened in December 2004. This restaurant has
a fine dining atmosphere with a full bar and extensive wine
list. The food is still made from Grandma D’Angelo’s
recipes that customers crave. Again, all interior remodeling
of the location was completely performed by the family.
